What a Plus Code is
A Plus Code (Open Location Code) is Google's open address code. With 10 characters, such as 87G7MXQ4+M5, it identifies a square of about 14 × 14 m; with 11, about 3 × 3 m. It is useful for homes on unnamed roads and in rural areas.
A short code (MXQ4+M5) needs a reference town. Type the town after the code, or the converter uses the point on screen. The implementation follows the official specification and passes Google's reference test files.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Plus Code the same as what3words?
No. Plus Codes are open and computed from a formula, with no server; what3words is proprietary and depends on a word list. This converter only handles Plus Codes.
