Singapore’s national plane coordinates
SVY21 / Singapore TM (EPSG:3414) is a Transverse Mercator grid based on the WGS84 ellipsoid. The projection origin is 1°22′ N, 103°50′ E, with false easting 28001.642 m and false northing 38744.572 m. It is a local Singapore grid, not a UTM zone.
This tool takes Easting first and Northing second, following SLA examples. At the SLA SNYU station, the published pair is E = 10934.735 m and N = 36436.799 m. Reversing the values can produce a plausible point elsewhere in Singapore.
Accuracy and height
The projection is checked with published SLA reference stations, agreeing within 1 mm. The catalogue uses the EPSG:8886 approximation between SVY21 and WGS84, rated at 1 m. A projection check does not establish centimetre-level agreement with every present-day GNSS realization.
The converter handles horizontal coordinates. Singapore Height Datum values are not calculated from this easting/northing pair.
Working with Singapore datasets
Choose SVY21 for a file explicitly identified as EPSG:3414. Latitude and longitude already in WGS84 can be pasted to obtain the grid coordinates in the other direction. Source: SLA: SVY21.
Frequently asked questions
Is X easting or northing?
In this converter X is easting and Y is northing. Check the column names in the original data rather than relying on X and Y alone.
