Irish Transverse Mercator
ITM (EPSG:2157) has been the official coordinate system of Ireland and Northern Ireland since 2001. It is a Transverse Mercator projection of IRENET95, the Irish realisation of ETRS89, so it is compatible with GPS to well under a metre. Eastings and northings are larger than in the Irish Grid (an ITM easting is around 600,000 m).
Frequently asked questions
Is ITM the same as the Irish Grid?
No. The Irish Grid uses the older TM75 datum and a different projection; the same point differs by tens of metres in the two systems. Check which one your map uses.
