The H3 hexagonal grid
H3 covers the Earth with hexagons (and 12 pentagons) at 16 resolutions; each index is a 15-character hexadecimal number such as 8a2a1072b59ffff. Resolution 9 cells are about 0.1 km² and are a common choice for city-scale analysis.
The converter uses the official h3-js library, loaded only on this page, and was checked against the test vectors of the H3 project.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the resolution?
The result is at resolution 9. When you paste an index of any resolution, the converter shows the centre of that cell.
