A separate Cassini origin for each state grid
The geocentric Cassini-Soldner grids offered here use GDM2000 (Rev 2006). There are nine choices, including shared grids for Kedah and Perlis and for Negeri Sembilan and Melaka. The same number pair can describe different places under different state origins, so confirm the state explicitly.
The JUPEM Kedah/Perlis example is N = 19364.3195 m, E = −27805.4063 m. Negative eastings are valid west of that grid’s origin; do not discard the sign. This revision uses EPSG:25311 for Kedah/Perlis.
Datum revision matters
A label such as Cassini, GDM2000, GDM2000 Rev 2006 or GDM2020 is not interchangeable. This page uses the 2006 revision and does not apply a deformation model to bring coordinates to another revision or epoch.
The Kedah/Perlis projection example from JUPEM agrees within 1 mm. That validates the published example, not an official control set in every state. The WGS84 approximation is rated at 1 m by EPSG:12288.
Preparing a spreadsheet
Keep Northing and Easting in separate columns and record the state grid and revision with the file. Choose the same system for the batch converter. Source: JUPEM coordinate reference system guidelines.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert an old local Cassini survey here?
Only if its datum is GDM2000 (Rev 2006) and its origin matches an offered state grid. Older local Cassini surveys need their own datum transformation.
